Zoom meeting as communicative tools

Since we did not have direct contact teaching from the mid of march thus year due to covid-19 pandemic most of the time we had online teaching and discussion on syllabus topics. The one of the most effective tools that we used in teaching and learning was zoom meeting software. We were taken through zoom meeting where by our tutor will have video conference and share presentation slides where by students can directly see what has shown on the screen. 


Through this session I have learnt many out of which I knew how to join the meet using code provided by our tutor. I also knew how to show and review presentation slides through zoom meet. The one of the feature that I mostly liked was recording features while other are presenting and this recording helps for future reference. I am also aware of how to speak whereby we have to turn off speaker while listening to other and while speaking we need to turn on the speaker. We can also  communicate in zoom chat. Thus zoom also provides a lot of opportunities to communicate better with teams on a day to day basis. 

Some of the challenges that I face while using this was poor network connection and consumption of more data. However I think using this zoom meeting has more advantages

Virtual Learning Environment as Communicative and Informative tools
 

Virtual learning environment is a platform designed to enhance quality in teaching and learning . As we are already exposed to this platform we know how to get access through its different features. So here I will discuss on some of the features that are I found very useful to my learning for four year in college. 


1. Courses menu page

It is a menu page where all the modules threats are listed there. According to the module tutors uploads notes and assign assignment in specific module threat. As a students we can get access in it by clicking and we will find everything uploaded by our tutors. Normally tutors uploads a notes and slides so that later those students who did not understand the topic can refer for better and clear understanding of the topic. This way it serve virtual learning environment  serve students a informative tools.  Moreover tutor opens a discussion forum where all the students can actively participate and have discussion over topic. we can also raise doubt through this and immediate feedback will be given by tutors.  Thus, virtual learning environment also serve students a communicative tool.



 
2. Question bank menu
In this features past question papers are uploaded and students can refer and get access every time and even downloads the question that later we can refer it. This feature really help as we know what type of questions are there and what type of question will come in exam and this accordingly leads me get prepared for written exam. 


3. Announcement page

This is a page where all the important announcement are made and students can get aware of what is happening and going to happen around their surroundings. Since we get only once to gather for morning prayer with presidents and lecturers this page really helps to convey a message immediately to all the students. Thus, Virtual learning environment also serve as communicative tools between administration and modules tutors too.

4. Online journals
 
As we are offered with research modules in third year,  this page helps to better understand about the research. With this feature in virtual learning environment we can get access to other research journals.

Reflection on Google docs as co-constructive tool 


Google docs is one of the co-constructive tool that we have used in teaching and learning.
We have learnt and created google docs as a collaborative tools and it’s a way for us and tutor to collaborate on assignments as well with my friends. We can co-edit, leave comments about how to improve the assignment and even open the chat with students and teacher as well. We can then immediately notify the comments or suggestion left by teacher. 


This allows us for faster communication and a place for learner’s to ask their teachers questions about their own work for further improvement. Moreover i like the features of google docs as we can edit the work of others as well others can edit, leave comments and share ideas about the task. Thus, for me google docs is most effective ways of collaborating with friends. 



Some advantages of using google docs for me is that group discussion can be done effectively through online. it also help me give feedback and share my own ideas as well i can view others ideas and feedback which ultimately increase the quality of the work. As a teacher I think google docs can best create the collaboration platform for children learning as well for teacher in teaching.
